Aquilea's soup festival

Original name: Sagra della Zuppa di Aquilea

Place: Aquilea (hamlet), in municipality of Lucca, in Lucca province.

Period: First half of August

2023 scheduled on: August, 4-5-6 and 11-12-13

Opening times: on dinner, from 7 pm.

Specialties:

  • First courses - Zuppa di Aquilea, local vegetables and herbs soup; tordelli, maccheroni, hand made pasta with meat sauce;
  • Second courses - Grigliata mista, mixed grilled meat,
  • Dessert - Torta co' becchi, local cake

A great sagra with many many traditional dishes and a menu in Italian and English language, which is absolutely unusual. The most important dish gives the name to the sagra. It's a particular soup, made with vegetables and aromatic herbs, and this sagra helps to keep alive this wonderful tradition, so don't miss it! Dishes like the Aquilea's soup really are the symbol of Tuscan cuisine, so take advantage of it.

As of first courses, depending on the day it will be possible to taste tordelli, or maccheroni pasta, all with meat sauce.

There's space for a famous dessert, called torta co' becchi, a cake still very popular in this northwest part of Tuscany.

Notice that every product in this sagra is made in Aquilea or nearby: olive oil, wine etcetera, everything is really local, which add to the considerable value of this great sagra.
