Homemade tordelli festival

Original name: Sagra del Tordello Casalingo

Place: Segromigno (hamlet), in municipality Capannori, in Lucca Province.

Opening times: several consecutive weekends, on dinner, on Saturday and Sunday

Local Specialties:

  • First courses: tordelli casalinghi, local homemade tordelli pasta;
  • Second courses: carne alla griglia, grilled meat; mezzina arrosto, roast bacon; baccalà, dried salted cod in sauce;
  • Side dishes: fagioli all'uccelletta, beans with tomato sauce;
  • Desserts: torta coi becchi, local sweet-and-salty cake.

A food festival organized by the Segromigno Parish, with some famous lucchese cuisine specialties. The "king" of this sagra is the tortello, which is named in the local dialect "tordello" and worth itself a visit to Segromigno. Tortello is a pasta dish spread over Emilia Romagna, Lombardy and Tuscany regions, with many local variants.

Another not to miss dish is the "torta coi becchi", a particular cake, made with herbs and with a taste half sweet half salty, and one of the symbols of the lucchese cuisine. In the menu, a very rare dish which is very long to cook and that's why it's not easy to find, the mezzina arrosto, roast bacon. During the sagra, in some days you'll also find the baccalà, a Tuscan recipe with the dried and salted cod, with tomato sauce, and as side dish the fagioli all'uccelletta, beans with tomato sauce.
